Now that Earth Day is over and we all feel the need to be a little greener, being interested in making changes for you and your family may include getting some help and support. I know I would like to contribute more to the green ways of life but so far its a little easier said than done. I myself have a closet full of electronics that need to be recycled but don’t know where or how to get it to happen. Many speak about being green and taking better care of the environment but it seems that the local, state and federal government has not caught up to the ideas of the masses. I also live in California where being green is more commonplace and I still find it hard to do certain things. Something I would like to do is get more information and more involved where I can. I found GreenVu.com and discovering more about what it means to be green and what the world at large is doing and creating to make a difference. This a forum for people to share their green stories and help one another do more for the environment. I think its great to have a central hub for all things green and I hope by getting involved and doing more I can feel like I am making a difference. You too can make a difference by doing simple things like reusable grocery/shopping bags, that simple action saves 350-500 plastic bags per year from ever being a part of a landfill. I actually have my bags in the trunk of my car and use them all the time. I have gotten to the place of cringing if someone wants to give me a plastic bag. That’s what large purses are for right? I remember when I used to go to the beach and lather myself in baby oil and bake all day for that golden tan … I am still a beach goer but now I use 30 SPF because if I still used baby oil I would be in the burn unit at the local hospital. All the chemicals we have spewed into the air for all these years has created a breakdown of our environment. We probably cannot reverse the process but we sure can slow it down or even halt it. Earth Day reminds me to be accountable and responsible for the area in which I live and the world at large by being more green. Join me in finding new ways to be green.
